Review: Melodia Red Mini Pants

Published by under Review

I got them yesterday, after a very look week. I was so excited to get them, because I had wanted a pair for a long time. $60 is a steal. When I got home, I tried them on. They fit beautifully except for the upper hip/top of the pant area. I anticipated having to do [...]

What would you like to be known for?

Published by under Misc.

I have had several conversations with people about how it’s easy to get known as the “x dancer.” The x becomes a signature aspect of the dancer, even if s/he does not plan on it. I’m thinking how some dancers are well-known for their veil work. Others often do a split or deep backbend. So, [...]

Review: Fan Veils

Published by under Review

I mentioned that one of the problems with taking a fan veil workshop was my fan veils. Because I didn’t know much about working with fan veils and didn’t know if they were my thing, I thought I’d go with a cheap option. I think these were about $60 for a pair, including shipping. This [...]

On the brighter side of things

Published by under Misc.

Melodia Designs is having a red pants sale. All the red pants are on sale for $60, instead of the normal $80. Get ‘em while they’re hot! Because of the Dina workshop cancellation, I was able to afford a pair for myself. Share on beboBlog this!Bookmark on DeliciousDigg this postRecommend on FacebookShare on favesShare on [...]

The job search

Published by under Physics Life

Since I’m not banking on grad school in the fall at this point, I need to have employment. I’m lucky in that I have no school debt, but I still need a roof over my head, food in my kitties’ bellies (and mine!), etc. I’ve been looking around, and the prospects aren’t so hot. If [...]

Are dancers in Chicago not supposed to learn during May?

Published by under Misc.

The shaabi workshop at Arabesque was canceled, and now Dina was canceled! The Egyptian Health Ministry won’t allow Egyptians to travel to the US, so Dina cannot show up to teach. The workshop has been rescheduled for 13-15 Nov. I’m very disappointed, since I don’t know if I’ll be around in Chicago then. At least [...]

Review: Fan Veil Workshop and How To Choreograph 201 Workshop

Published by under Review

This past Sunday I went to Arabesque to learn about fan veil and how to choreograph more. I admittedly know very little about fan veil or fan dancing in Middle Eastern dance. I’ve never worked with a fan before, and I certainly have never worked with a fan veil. I’ve only seen a handful of [...]

The latest on my experiment

Published by under Physics Life

Well, it partially works. The other day I ran my experiment. I came back the next day and saw something odd. What is classically thought is if we sit another fluid on the bottom (as long as gravity doesn’t hold it back), the fluid will diffuse, rising upward. What we saw with the latest run [...]
