Dance workshops and performances galore

Fall is already gearing up to be busy, busy, busy. Here is a small sampling of events that I plan on attending:

MassRaqs – Sept. 9-11. Workshops by Hadia, Karim Nagi, Katia of Boston, and Meiver, as well as two shows and two panel discussions. I’ve mentioned before I work for this event (many of the ads, communications, etc. are from me), so I’ll be participating/working this.

Raks Spooki- Oct. 16. My friend Badriya of Boston hosts the Gothic belly dance event every year. I look forward to attending again.

Raqia Hassan – Oct. 29 and 30. Weekend workshop being taught by Raqia Hassan, who trains many of Egypt’s greatest. Nourhan Sharif is hosting her in NYC. I registered about a week ago. This will be my first Raqia workshop, and I’m pretty excited; I hear she is amazing.

Raks Nativity- Dec. 11. My friend Nepenthe is doing Raks Nativity again, the story of baby Jesus’s birth told through Middle Eastern dance. The concept surprisingly worked well. I hope to dance in this again this year.
