I finally decided that I should indeed get a business card for when I attend academic conferences or for that kind of exchange. While attending events for networking purposes are not my cup of coffee, I have occasionally met people and connected by chance. Having a dedicated way to hand out my contact info would [...]

Among my projects, this has been brewing and has reached advertising point. Shadia is a phenomenal teacher, and in my very brief time studying with her, I think she’s definitely helped improve my dancing. These classes are something I truly believe are a great asset and I strongly encourage dancers in the Boston-area to sign [...]

The rain has been vacillating in Boston between drizzling and blinding rain. The Boston transit system, the MBTA, is shutdown for tomorrow. Luckily, things are safe for now. However, I’m not sure if this is considered the hurricane or not. With the sun setting already at 7 PM and cooler temperatures, summer has already begun to end. I’ve been looking at my calendar, trying to write things in, and I realized in less than 3 weeks, I’ll be back in school. Although I enjoy school and look forward to moving forward with my degree, I [...]

And it was unbelievably difficult. Not enough to deter me from going back in the shoes but difficult. I’ve been to the class before in slippers. Everyone is very nice and supportive, the education is good, and the studio is kept in pretty immaculate condition. If you were [...]

I could be exaggerating, but it seems like ever since I started dancing (2003/2004), there has been rumors of a book by Morocco. If you haven’t heard of Morocco, she is a noted dancer, scholar, and teacher in Middle Eastern dance. I haven’t been able to make any of her workshops yet, but everyone I [...]

By the time I started thinking about vacation, most places were cost prohibitive; travel can be quite costly. My boyfriend and I decided to do a short weekend trip to New York City, which is by no means a bad choice. While in New York, I decided to look for pointe shoes. I went to [...]

Since entering my doctoral, people have told me that grades don’t really matter for anything, as long as you are passing your classes/meeting university requirements. Yesterday, I received an invitation to a conference through my scholarship. The topic is on teaching in higher ed. I unfortunately will not be able to attend because of school; [...]

About a month ago, I sat down and wrote out some ideas. I have since presented them to my advisor, who thinks they’re good ideas (yay) but does not know how feasible they are (possible nay). The good news is he is very supportive of me asking for help beyond him; my advisor even sees [...]
